Just
like humans, dogs get sick too.
chances are that you will be
given
medications at some point by
your veterinarian to administer
for your dog. Learning how to do
it the right way will make the
process easier for both you and
your dog. Always follow the
instructions given by your
veterinarian. Be sure to always
administer the full amount of
medication over the number of
days instructed by your
veterinarian.
When administering meds stay calm -
you pet can sense if you are nervous, which will
make it more difficult you apply the treatment.
Always give your pet praise and reward him with a
treat when the process is complete.
Avoid medicating your dog on the
floor or in your arms. Place the dog on a table with
a non-slip surface.
Ask your veterinarian if the
medication can be given with food or must be given
on an empty stomach. If it can be given with food,
place the pill into a small treat like a piece of
cheese or other small amount of food which is
recommended by your veterinarian.
