Our Veterinarians and Staff goal is to provide your pet
family members with the most up to date, compassionate and pain free
treatment and preventative health care available in the Waterloo Area. We
provide a pet friendly cost effective convenient clinic, where we share the
love of animals, like you, for your pet family members.
Lorraine grew
up on a farm outside of Vinton. Lorraine has been at Klima
Small Animal Clinic office for past 10 years. She has a dog
Sam who will be 13 this year. She has a daughter and 3 sons,
who keep her very busy. In her spare time she enjoys walking,
reading, traveling , and shopping and watching Law and Order on
T.V.
Melissa joined the clinic family in 1999 as
a veterinary assistant. While working at the clinic and her family's
dairy farm part-time, she completed her general education at Hawkeye and
then went on to Kirkwood to become a veterinary technician. She
graduated from Kirkwood in may of 2001 and later took and passed the
state and national board exams to become a licensed veterinary
technician. Melissa has a son, Keegan and 3 more children of the
four-legged variety; Louie, a Boston Terrier, Chip, an Australian
Shepherd, and a cat, Jack. In her free time Melissa still helps out on
the family farm, she also enjoys reading and scrap-booking.
Dr. Chuck Klima was born and raised in Cedar
Rapids, IA. He attended Iowa State University and graduated from veterinary
school in 1972. He practiced in the Chicago area for 2 years before coming
to Waterloo in 1974. He and his wife Dr. Pam Klima built the current clinic
in 1981. His special interest is small animal surgery.
Outside the clinic, his interests are hunting,
fishing, and wildlife conservation. He also enjoys spending time with his
family.
He has one Labrador, Sophie, a German wirehair
pointer, Scrapper, and a cat, Dora.
Dr. Pam Klima
Dr. Pam Klima was born and raised in Elgin, ILL.
She received her B.S. and D.V.M. from Michigan State University in 1972. She
practiced in the Chicago area for two years and came to Waterloo in 1974.
She and her husband Dr. Chuck Klima moved their practice to the current
location in 1981. Her interests include small animal medicine and
dermatology.
She is originally from Sioux City, IA where she attended Morningside College and
earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2001. Dr. Nitz practiced at a small
animal clinic in Dubuque, IA before joining the staff at Klima Small Animal
Clinic in June 2007. She has two cats at home, Joey and Frankie, who are good
daily reminders of why she chose this profession for her career. In her spare
time, Dr. Nitz enjoys reading, cooking, playing tennis, hiking, biking and
anything outdoors.
